Member Responsibilities and Rules

A. POTENTIAL FLYING MEMBERS:


All potential flying members must meet the following minimum aeronautical experience requirements.


1. Have a solo endorsement from a CFI in his/her training in the club airplane and/or:

2. Five (5) logbook solo hours in an aircraft considered to be of equivalent or greater complexity to the club aircraft by the Executive Committee.

3. A successfully completed check ride administered by a CFI which meets the standards of biennial flight review in the club aircraft with a logbook.

4. Flying members that are on the insurance roster and can fly the airplane at will. The Treasurer must be notified in advance of an applicant’s intention to become an active flying member so that the appropriate insurance notification can take place.


B. MEMBER FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:


1. Flying membership fee is $1,000.00 with no refunds if the member resigns from the club, for any reason. The hourly rate is $80/hr.

2. Monthly dues are $60, plus $100.00 annual assessment for an

Upgrade Account. Monthly dues are determined by the actual costs of insurance, loan payment, hanger rent and upgrade account.

3. Monthly dues, upgrade reserve and payment for flying time for each month are due on the day of the next month's meeting. Flying privileges will be suspended for all accounts over 60 days past due. Any member's account that is past due for 90 days will be removed from the Club.

4. Automated payments of dues and flying time are encouraged.

5. The rate for hourly flying time does not include hanger, tie-down or landing fees on out of town airfields. These expenses are to be borne by the member using the club airplane at the time. If fuel is purchased off field, the club will reimburse the member up to the current posted cost of fuel at 6G1 (Titusville Airport) or actual cost, whichever is less. Receipts are required for reimbursement.

6. Every member shall be responsible at the close of any flight made in the club airplane for seeing that the plane is properly secured before leaving it, and is equally responsible for protecting the club’s property for possible damage or unnecessary exposure whenever it is under their care.

7. All fuel purchases are to be 100LL only.


C. PLANE OPERATIONS RESPONSIBILITIES:


1. All flights shall be entered on the online calendar giving the date, departure time and return time.

2. If the plane is damaged a note must be attached to the yoke identifying what happened, and the Maintenance officer must be notified immediately. Failure to do so could result in revocation of membership.

3. The plane is to be cleaned of all bugs from the leading edges, front, wheel pants and windshield after each flight.

4. No member shall, except in case of flight emergency keep the aircraft away from the local airport overnight without indicating the location on the calendar or more than seven (7) consecutive days without permission of the executive committee.

5. Should a member have trouble with the club aircraft away from the local field requiring that the aircraft be left overnight, it shall be the responsibility of the member to return the aircraft to the home field.

6. No club aircraft may be landed at other than an authorized airfield except in case of emergency.

7. If an accident resulting in damage to, or destruction of any club aircraft shall occur while the plane is being legally operated but as a result of a component or equipment failure, or an “Act of God” weather conditions, the expense of the repair or restoration for the club’s property shall be the responsibility of the club as a whole. If the plane is damaged by negligence on the part of the member they or their estate is financially responsible for the amount of the damage or the deductible amount of repairs not covered by insurance. It will be determined by the club membership whether any incident will be turned into the insurance company.

8. If the club airplane is kept away from the home field longer than 24 hours, the member using it is financially responsible for one (1) hour per day flying time, regardless of whether the plane is actually flown. This does not apply to cases where essential repairs are made away from the home field.

9. All flight time shall be entered in the flight record book kept in the plane immediately upon completion of each flight.

10. Downtime maintenance or repair of the aircraft takes precedence over any member’s reservation.

11. All maintenance and repair issues must be reported to the Maintenance Officer.

12. All maintenance and repair must be approved by the Executive Committee or club.

13. Smoking in the aircraft is not permitted.

14. If damage to plane is caused by unknown person, all club members will have to pay a special assessment to cover damages, amount to be determined by The Executive Committee.

15. Each flying member is responsible to maintain current copies their driver’s license, pilot's certificate, current medical information and bi-annual verification with the Treasurer. This information must be on file with the Treasurer before flying the club plane.


D. EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE RESPONSIBILITIES:


1. The officers of the club will not be paid or reimbursed for their services.

2. The Secretary/Treasurer will maintain a monthly roster of flying members as per insurance requirements.

3. These rules may be amended or rescinded by a two-thirds majority vote of the members present and voting at a regular meeting of the club.



E. FLYING MEMBERS TAKING INSTRUCTION:


1. Student pilots shall not fly club-owned aircraft unless under the direct supervision and control of a current and qualified CFI. The instructor shall be physically present at the field of the origin of operations of the aircraft prior to each operation of the aircraft by the student pilot.

2. All student pilots shall be required to take a check ride with an approved CFI current and qualified licensed instructor if they have not flown that type of aircraft within the preceding thirty (30) days.

3. All student’s instructors shall provide a copy of their driver’s license, pilot's certificate, current medical information and instructors certificate to the Secretary of the club.

All Students must have their CFI Approved by the club membership.
